Baptized Young, Shunned Early

When I was four years old my dad changed from devote Catholic to Jehovah's Witnesses. I was baptized at the age of 15. All the teenagers in my congregation we're getting baptized including my older brother. My dad told me I needed to make serious decisions because I was getting older. I felt very pressured into getting baptized.

Two years later I no longer wanted to follow all of the rigorous rules. I had a "worldly "boyfriend and we had sex. I was disfellowshipped [formally expelled from the community] forced out of my home and I was still in high school. Fortunate enough my older brother had already moved out and had an apartment. I was able to rent a room from him. I was able to continue going to high school and work at the same time. I graduated. I was very proud of that.

My dad never spoke to me and didn't attend my graduation. I had lots of younger siblings that were told not to speak to me as well! Fast forward 5 years. I found myself pregnant and no place to go. I was able to go home under one condition to go back to the organization which I did. 4 years later I slowly faded out. At this time I had my own place. My dad did speak to me from time to time. It's been a long road. My dad has since passed.
