I grew up in the Jehovahs Witnesses from the age of 8-34 years. I left the religion at first by stopping all activity. Then I officially resigned from the organization, giving a formal letter of disassociation.
Automatically the members of the religion shunned me, including my parents. I could longer hang out with them, talk to them or be involved in each others lives. Unfortunately this was a factor to losing my marriage. All of this because I no longer believe in this religion. Sad but true.
Now it’s about starting over and making a new family at age 34.
Stop Mandated Shunning is a project of the Open Minds Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisation in the United States. Internationally, we operate as a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working to end the practice of mandated shunning and to defend the human rights of those affected by coercive control.
