Became a member of JWs in about 1985, baptised in 1987. Became Elder in 1999, served as secretary to two congregations. Never quite agreed with most doctrines, and certainly the prophecies. Became a pimo, and I finally faded.

The Reason I never left sooner was because my wife and adult children were all in it. I had to be patient with my wife. However, my wife did wake up at the end of Covid, and we both left after having moved away from our home area. This seemed necessary to avoid making it difficult for friends and family members in the Org that would have to shun us.

The reasons we left were because of the Child abuse cover-ups within the organisation. The high control environment, secret multinational financial arrangements and hiding of assets within, not to mention the constant changing of bible prophecy.

Today, though, we are not disfellowshipped; my wife's family do shun us. Our children do not. Shunning is a psychological weapon used by the organisation. I have seen my wife suffer emotionally as a result of her treatment by her family.

Stop Mandated Shunning is part of the Open Minds Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) charity in the USA
